Support for your well-being

Life can become overwhelming. Stress, relationships, work, family responsibilities, grief, major changes, or simply carrying too much for too long can leave you feeling stuck. At Evans Counseling & Vocational Assessment Services, counseling begins with a genuine conversation. You don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Together, we can explore what's happening, identify what matters to you, and work toward practical, meaningful change.

Counseling for Real-Life Challenges

Counseling is available for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, anger or frustration, major life transitions, employment-related stress, and other personal challenges. My approach is supportive, person-centered, trauma-informed, and practical. Together, we can explore what you're experiencing, identify patterns or barriers that may be affecting you, and develop strategies to help you work toward your personal goals.

Individual Counseling — A Space to Talk, Understand & Move Forward

Individual counseling provides a private, supportive setting to talk openly about what you're experiencing without feeling judged or dismissed. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, relationship concerns, anger and frustration, employment-related stress, and significant life changes. Counseling is individualized to your needs, with an emphasis on understanding what's happening, developing practical coping strategies, and working toward goals that matter to you.

Practical Tools for Everyday Life

Counseling isn't only about talking about problems. It's also an opportunity to develop practical ways of responding to them. We may work on managing stress, coping with difficult emotions, handling anger and frustration, improving communication, adjusting to change, and developing healthier ways to respond when life becomes overwhelming.

Understanding Different Life Experiences

My counseling experience includes working with individuals facing employment-related stress, disability-related challenges, major life transitions, and barriers that can affect emotional well-being. I also bring a unique perspective through my personal connection to the Deaf community as a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), along with professional experience working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. My goal is to provide counseling that respects each person's individual experiences, communication needs, strengths, and goals.

Meet John Evans, MA, LPC, CRC

I'm John Evans, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. I believe counseling works best when people feel comfortable enough to be themselves, speak honestly, and know they are being heard.

My professional background includes mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, crisis-focused work, vocational rehabilitation, and experience working with individuals facing significant life, disability, employment, and reentry challenges.

I also bring a personal connection to the Deaf community as a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), along with professional experience working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.

You don't have to know exactly what to say when you come to counseling. We can start with a conversation.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

If you're considering counseling, you don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out. A consultation can help you learn more about my counseling approach, ask questions, and determine whether my services may be a good fit for your needs.

Counseling services are separate from vocational assessment and rehabilitation services. Choosing counseling does not require participation in vocational services, and receiving vocational services does not require becoming a counseling client.

Is Counseling Right for You?

Counseling may be helpful if you're feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, depressed, frustrated, grieving a loss, struggling in a relationship, or adjusting to a major change in your life.

I also welcome adults dealing with employment or financial stress, individuals adjusting to life after incarceration, people living with disabilities, and men who may not normally consider counseling or who simply want a practical, straightforward place to talk.

You don't need to be in a crisis to benefit from counseling. Sometimes recognizing that something needs to change is enough reason to start the conversation.
